Scholarship Description

The AAUW Fellowship program 2024/2025 Scholarship is fully funded and provided by the American Association of University Women in the USA. All international students are eligible to apply; this scholarship is available only for graduate and postgraduate studies in any subject offered at the university. The AAUW Fellowship Program provides $20,000 to $50,000 annually, depending on whether you meet academic standards.

AAUW (the American Association of University Women) awards International Fellowships to women who do not have permanent residency or citizenship in the United States to study or conduct research full-time. Graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions is supported.

The International Fellowships Program was created in 1917 to offer Latin American women the opportunity to study at the graduate and postgraduate levels in the United States. The International Fellowships scholarship has been awarded to women from 150 countries and more than 3,600 women around the globe.

AAUW Fellowship recipients receive the following benefits:

The Award Amounts

  • Master’s/first professional degree: $20,000
  • Doctoral: $25,000
  • Postdoctoral: $50,000

International Fellowships are available for:

  • Education expenses
  • Living expenses
  • Dependent Child Care
  • As long as the travel expenses do not exceed 10% of the fellowship, you can use your travel allowance to attend professional conferences or seminars.

AAUW Fellowship Scholarship Eligibility

AAUW Fellowship applicants must meet certain criteria to be eligible.

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible countries: All countries of the world except the US
  • You must be a citizen of another country or have a non-immigrant visa to enter the United States.
  • During the fellowship year, you intend to dedicate yourself to the academic plan.
  • She intends to return home to pursue a career.
  • All applicants for a Master’s/first Professional Degree and Doctoral degree must have submitted an application to a recognized institution of study during the year of the International Fellowship and must include the name of that institution on the International Fellowship Application.
  • Fellowships for Master’s/First Professional Degrees are available to students pursuing master’s degrees or professional degrees, such as J.D. or M.F.A. or L.L.M. or M.Arch. or medical degrees, such as M.D. or D.D.S.
  • Doctoral Fellowships are for those with doctorate degrees such as Ph.D.
  • The applicant must have a doctorate or a degree classified as research (e.g. Ph.D. Postdoctoral applicants must provide proof of their doctorate degree and hold a doctorate classified as a research degree.
  • Doctoral and Master’s degree applicants must be enrolled at a U.S.-accredited university located in the U.S. for the entire fellowship year.
  • GWI members are eligible for a limited number of scholarships to study or conduct research in countries other than their home country. Foreign branches of U.S. universities are not considered part of the U.S.
  • The applicant must conduct a full academic year of research or study. International Fellowships are not available for partial years of research or study. The fellowship year begins in April; programs that end before then are not eligible.
  • The fellowships for master’s/first professional degrees and doctoral studies support classroom-based study in colleges or universities. This fellowship program doesn’t provide funding for online or distance-learning programs, or degrees that heavily depend on distance learning. AAUW will make the final decision about what distance learning is under these fellowships.

How to Apply

Follow the steps below to apply for the AAUW Fellowship scholarship.

  1. Prepare the following documents:
  • The dossier service requires three recommenders, who should be professors, professional colleagues, or academics familiar with your work and background.
  • Proof of highest degree.
  • Only for currently enrolled applicants is proof of enrollment required.
  • Proof of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Doctorate or M.F.A. degree (only for postdoctoral applicants). Only postdoctoral candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Report of official TOEFL test results or waiver requests.
  • Admission letter
  • C.V./Resume
  1. You must pass the eligibility test to be considered by the selection panel.
  2. Fill out the form and submit it.
