Scholarship Description

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024/2025 One Young World Summit Leading Africa scholarships. Are you a young African leader? You could go to Montreal, Tiohtiake in September with the flagship scholarship.

The One Young World Summit is an annual event that brings together more than 2,000 young leaders in more than 190 countries to discuss solutions to global problems. Mary Robinson, Paul Polman, and Justin Trudeau, leaders in business, politics, and charity, inspire these young people; they also establish connections and share knowledge.

After becoming One Young World ambassadors in their own towns and organizations, delegates have access to an international network of more than 15,500 young leaders that can help them launch or accelerate social impact projects.

One Young World aims to identify the most influential young leaders in each country. This scholarship allows deserving youth to participate in the Summit based on their leadership abilities and ability to affect change in their country of origin. Leading Africa aims to ensure that African youths are well represented at One Young World Summits.

Africa’s youth have innovative ideas to make Africa more sustainable. Do you count yourself as one of these leaders? One Young World would like to invite you to its annual Summit.

One Young World Summit Leading Africa Scholarships Eligibility

Sponsorship is available if:

• Between the ages of 18-30.
• Demonstrate your commitment to positive change.
• Demonstrate your leadership ability.
• Do you address key global and/or local issues in your work or life?
• You should have a proven track record in generating innovative and impactful ideas.
• You must be a citizen (passport holder) of any of the following countries:

One Young World Summit Leading Africa Scholarships Benefits

• Access to the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada.
• Hotel Accommodation between 17 September and 21 September 2024
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included in catering.
• Cost of traveling to and from Montreal: You must return and depart from the same airport if you are flying to or from Montreal.

Selection process

By mid-May, 2024, the strongest candidates will be selected. If you are shortlisted, a member of the One Young World Team will contact you directly.

Please Note:

• We can’t guarantee that any candidate will be selected or sponsored.
• Priority will go to those applicants who have not been represented as much at the previous One Young World Summit.
• Priority is also given to those who are attending the Summit for the first time (not OYW ambassadors).
• One Young World cannot respond to emails from individuals asking about the results of the Leading Africa selection due to the large number of applications they receive.
• They don’t provide feedback on why candidates were not selected.
