The University of Waterloo scholarship 2024/2025 provides a fully funded scholarship to international students; this scholarship is available for undergraduate, master, and PhD study. The Waterloo University Scholarship is worth up to $10,000.
The University of Waterloo presents the David Johnston Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards in support of Canadians and International Students. The program is open to all students who wish to pursue a degree in any Waterloo Faculty undergraduate or graduate program. Faculty will select the eligible students according to the Faculty’s allocation; the selection of students will be based on their academic performance as demonstrated by their application to the graduate program.

Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
The University of Waterloo scholarship provides the following benefits to the recipient:
- The David Johnston Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards are worth up to $2,500 per term of study, $2,500-$5,000 for one or two terms of work or volunteering, and up to $10,000 for three or more terms.
- The International Master’s Award of Excellence has a value of $2,500 for each term, up to a maximum of six terms.
University of Waterloo Scholarships Eligibility
The following criteria must be met by applicants to be eligible for University of Waterloo Scholarships:
- Required Languages: English
- Eligible Countries: All Countries
- These scholarships are open to candidates with good academic standing.
- Students must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program in any faculty. They can participate in an internship, volunteer work, or academic exchange.
- Students in research-based courses (thesis or major research papers) are usually awarded this scholarship.
- Students entering their first semester of study (term 1.0) will normally receive this award.
- Students must meet the criteria set by the faculty for academic excellence.
- Students must not have any outstanding probationary requirements and must be able to meet the academic requirements of their program.
- The award can be combined with other scholarships, internal or external (e.g., UW Graduate Scholarships, OGS, etc.). Scholarships are not the same as sponsorships.
- Normally, students shouldn’t receive foreign government or agency funding (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan Sponsorship, etc.) at the same time or self-fund themselves in excess of the minimum support levels set by their faculty.
- Nominations for an IMAE are not allowed for students who have been grandfathered as part of the IMSA program. However, a previous IMSA recipient for a master’s degree that was completed can be considered.
- This award will automatically be considered by students based on the application they submit for admission. The Departments or Faculty will determine their own internal selection process based on eligibility criteria and allocation.
- The faculties may set stricter criteria for eligibility.

- The university must admit candidates to the undergraduate or graduate program. Candidates can access their form pages after taking admission.
- The personal statement should be attached to the application. All applicants are required to provide proof of their English proficiency in order to meet the minimum requirements.
Follow these instructions to apply for the International Masters Award of Excellence Scholarship:
- This award will be considered automatically for students who apply for admission. No separate scholarship application is needed.
- The Departments or Faculties that select and nominate the students for the scholarship will be the departments and/or faculties.
